Originally from Washington, D.C., Garett Hwang studied visual arts at Brown University (BA) and holds a professional degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(M.Arch), where she was awarded the Marjorie Pierce/Dean William Emerson Fellowship. Fascinated by cultural identity in modern architecture, she has worked in both the United States and China at firms such as ORG [Office for Permanent Modernity], Atelier FCJZ with architect Yung Ho Chang, and Fake Design with artist Ai Wei Wei. Her predilection for rule-based design and scripting has driven an unwavering interest in computational solutions for the diverse facets of design. Garett currently teaches 3d modeling seminars for undergraduate and graduate students at the Boston Architectural College.
